Warships closed beta

Just played my first round, and am VERY impressed so far! The graphics are just what you'd expect - same graphics engine as Tanks and Warplanes. No mods yet that I've found - a zoom out to get further up would be nice. The distances tend to be far greater, and nearly every shot has to be led. But the damage modding is great, the gun selection is awesome. No carrier in my first battle - I ran a cruiser, the Erie. Definitely a slower pace than Tanks, even - it's as if the fastest tanks on the field were TOGs.

But I enjoyed it - can't wait to get home tonight and play again!

10 more rounds in, and realized I"ve been playing co-op mode with other live players against bots! But the game play and graphics remain addictive, and the ship modeling is really outstanding - as good as if not better than in WoT or Warplanes. The damage modeling is pretty amazing, too - if a turret is destroyed, it LOOKs destroyed.

I have had the beta for a couple months or so now and just played the first time last night......had a BLAST.

I think Im playing against other players,but after reading drfr post above im not sure if I am. How do I know for sure?
I just hit the battle button and all seems to be MP.

Just the bit I played last night I got to tier 3 on the jap cruisers and fully teched out all 3,also got to tier 2 cruisers on US.
That tier 3 jap cruiser with torpedos,fast speed,quick turning and fast reloads si awesome.
In 1 round I sunk a carrier,battleship and 2 tier 2 cruisers....I would have possibly sunk another ship but the idiot team mate behind me fired all his torpedos while I was in his line of fire. I had about 70% ship health left and Ill be damned if all his torps didnt hit me broadside and I almost instantly sank to the bottom.
I also got 3600 credits for the damage he casued....but still......sigh.

Im liking the cruisers a lot,I really want to try the battleship.

Last round I played last night,the tier 4 carrier on our team really did a lot of damage.
He hid at the edge of the map behind an island in a small cove area.He became the last ship on our team.The other team still had 4 ships left,3 cruisers and a carrier......well.......he sank them all and won the round for us,was awesome to watch.

This game looks actually pretty good. I will have to give it a whirl when it is released.

More even the tanks, the different classes in Warships play very differently. Last night, I ran a tier 3 destroyer, and sank 2 cruisers with torps, and 4 destroyers with my surface guns.

Up to Tier 6 battleships on US side, and a very different game. You move slowly, and have to sit back (like with a TD in Tanks) so not to take too much damage too quickly. You want to hit enemy ships on the edge of your range, especially if you're hitting cruisers which can't throw as far.

Haven't really tried aircraft carrier yet - that's really complicated, from what I hear. You have to line up your squadrons to hit the enemy broadside.
