Issue with our Web Site

Postby nervustwitch » Sat Oct 31, 2015 2:25 pm

I just noticed today that if I log onto our web site and go to the "Home" page,my CPU usage jumps up to 65%-70% usage. What the hell.
If I go to the forums it immediately drops to normal usage.I go back to "home" it jumps right back up to high usage.

This is really strange I have never had this happen anywhere before.

Browser is Firefox.
seeing these stats in Task Manager Process and also the same in CoreTemp Widget

Anyway didnt know if something is messed up on the web site but just letting you know so at least it can be checked into.

EDIT:
I also just noticed that on the home page my memory usage starts jumping up and just keeps going up until I leave the home page,I left the home page after I went from 500mb usage 2.5gb usage and it was still climbing.

Well me and clumpy messed around the other day with the issue.
It does this on FF,Chrome and IE.
Conclusion, the RSS news feed app thats on the home page is the cause.

So I learned the hard way the other night, do not leave the Geezer home page open and try to play any game. Its bad....very bad.
The home page just constantly eats up all my free ram and holds my CPU to about 70% usage on any browser.

Just a heads up for everyone. I didnt think the web site was causing my issue the other night.

And now its not doing it at all, unless someone fixed it.
But since Im just talking to myself here I'll stop replies at this one.
Kind of dead around the forums anymore.

I read it and was checking it the last couple of days. Once the page loaded up, my RAM and CPU usage was normal.

I doubt DrFr fixed it as I have not seen him around, I can tell since the Thermometer hasn't been updated for a couple of weeks!!

I am sure the culprit was "the feed". We have had issues with it before................ it's demonic!!

Clumpy? Well, he just has issues.............. period!

Since the feed changes it was most likely something within the feed that was posted on the page at the time.

I'm back - had to run to Florida for the funeral of my best friend from childhood.

My guess is PC Gamer had some kind of embedded multimedia content that was eating up your resources. They update that feed 2, 3 times a day, so it would have rolled off the bottom within a day or two.

I'll update the donations bar, mail off the video card, and generally get caught up as soon as I can.

Hey DerFer, I was wondering what happened to ya!

Sorry for the loss of your friend. I is very tough when you have tons of memories for fun times with a person or group and they leave this world.

You, myself some of us older Geezers are at the age where we begin experiencing more and more of that, not just friends but family also.

Hope you are well.
