BF1 Rental Server Program - 15 Nov 2016

Postby benjie~67 » Tue Nov 15, 2016 5:17 pm

It appears that the RSP is available now, with the "Fall Game Update". It can be accessed through the game UI and Store tab. The costs are listed, $59.99 per month or $199.99 for 6 months would likely be only options for our group, with the 6 month option obviously the best bang for the buck. It appears it is directly linked to your EA account just like we had to "buy" even the free BF4 DLCs through the store and individual EA account.

So,
1. Do we want/need a geezergaming.net server(s)? (Server set up options available, but no kick ability)
2. Location options for most are US East or US West (no central servers)
3. If Yes, then how can we make this work?
- determine number of servers. (1 or 2 (1 each coast))
- get cash to who ever initiates rental(s)
- agree on initial set up ie; mode, maps, weapons/vehicles allowed, etc...

:? Perhaps a BF1 interested player meeting would be beneficial. Thoughts/Ideas? :?

The server program right now is very "limited" to what you can do with it, it also takes 20 people to start a server as well which is ridiculous.

Personally, I say we wait until we get options to actually manage our server.

I can't see paying $200.00 for six mos. and have one, two or three asshats ruin our server and we can do nothing about it.

Let's see how this thing unfolds before we jump all in. Just my thoughts. :D

Thanks for the info Benjie and Clumpy.

Like Fireman said but also, an additional $200 we don't have. I'm not good with Fireman making up the difference on this stuff. If we get 4 BF1 players to pony up $50 each, I'd say go for it but we have a hard time making our monthly nut now. Even getting 10 to put up $20 over and above what they donate now I think would be a problem.

I know FrankieG and Omega said they would put up at least half of a six month rental. I have no problem paying the rest, which I don't think I will have to, to at least see how things go with BF1 and recruitment. But if we run in to no money coming in later on, then the BF1 server rental would not be renewed.

I certainly do not mind chipping in some extra cash for a 6 month trial period (a great opportunity for recruitment). I believe main issues will be to agree on what the server initial set up will be and the fact that only the person who uses their account to rent it has to be around to make changes (unless they share their account info with some one else). OR can a separate new EA account be set up so a few Geezers can access it (shared log in info). I agree that there must not be any requirement for Fireman to make up any differences, if we can not get enough Geezers to share the cost then forget it.

I would not mind chipping in myself. I'm not up to playing the game until we have our own servers..
