My New Rig

Well, it's being built now. Because of the delay of initial order and waiting on more custom built Velox cases, I was able to upgrade the case and vid. card.
Original order had a plain black Velox case and an nVidia RTX 2080 Super. Both the case and 2080 were being waited on. Hence, I had time to upgrade the case to a pearl white and the gpu to the new RTX 3080, which Digital Storm evidently has in hand as my build began this morning. It's fast enough for everything right now. The 10GB of VR on the card will become an issue in the not to distant future.
Reportedly, nVidia is suppose to come out with a 3080 variant, maybe a Super, that has 20+ GBs of VRam.

Watching some of the first benchmark testing on YouTube, this card is really amazing................ especially when DLSS is turned on when having frame rate issues.
Excited about it, but in a short while the card will obsolete.

I'm sure my card is post-obsolete - but I mostly play Tanks and KF2, so it's not an issue. I'm running both at max settings and getting good performance still.

I'm having issues with my sound card when importing LPs - will likely take the current rig and use it only for media, and get a new gaming rig in a year or two, and dump the laptop.

SilentSniper says this card is a quantum leap in cards. The mid-range is way over the high end of the last generation and the cost is held at the mid range level.

Yes it is Scorpio. All the tech guys on YT I watch say that they think it is because nVidia is positioning themselves for the release of Big Navi by AMD. They think Big Navi will compete with the 3080, maybe a tad slower but at a slightly lower price. Hence the low prices by nVidia, very uncharacteristic of them.

Build went Stage #2 (all parts in a bin box) and Stage #3 (All parts put in to an assembly rig where they add drivers and needed programs) by late Friday.

Went to Stage #4 about an hour ago, where they actually put my components in my case and do all the wiring.

Stage #5 will be stress testing, Stage #6 is Quality Assurance and Stage #7 is packaging and shipping.

Digital Storm this time. Been around for a long time.
Last one was from Origin and they are still around, was going to go with them again but changed my mind. Seemed customer service was a little wishy washy this time when I called to spec a PC AND, they had been bought out by Corsair. That's twice this entity has sold out.

Digital Storm and Maingear were two top choices. Gunner got two, one for him and his wife, from Xotic. They look nice.

DS gives you a discount when you order so your configure price does not reflect your true price. Generally 10%. Their Customer Service dept. has been fantastic so far and there are peeps on their forums that have bought solely from Digital Storm, like 5, 6 and 7 PCs from them. Must be good.
